E-Governance
E-Governance refers to the utilization of the internet and the World Wide Web for delivering government information and services to the citizens. In the past, all the services provided by government of India, such as postal services, railway, ticket booking, applying for passport etc. were on offline platform and were done manually with no support of information technology. Now , the government has taken many services on information technology platform, better known as e-governance.
The various advantages of using the online reservation system are as follows:

Passport -
The Government of India has taken many initiatives to lead in the era of e-governance, and to improve the delivery of public services. The National E-governance Plan(NeGP) includes many high impact e-governance projects that focus on reforming passport services in India.
The Passport Seva Project(PSP) is transforming passport and related services in India to deliver passport services in a reliable, convenient and transparent manner, within defined service levels. Key aspects of the service transformation achieved by PSP are as follows:
· Anywhere Anytime Access
· Increased Network
· State-of-the –art Technology Infrastructure
· Call center and Helpdesk
Hospital (ORS) -
Information Technology has been playing an important role in improving facilites provided to patients in hospitals. Even today, in major Government hospitals, patients have to stand in long queues to get registered and obtain an Out-Patient Department (OPD) slip before being able to consult a doctor wait for long hours to consult doctors.
Using e-know your Customer (eKYC) data of Aadhaar number, if patient’s mobile number is registered UIDAI.
In case mobile number is not registered with UIDAI, it uses patient’s name.
New patient will get appointment as well as UHID (Unique Health Identification) number. If Aadhaar number is already linked with UHID number, then appointment number will given and UHID will remain same.
“UMANG App”
The full form of UMANG is Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance. This app has been developed by National E-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) with the aim of driving mobile governance in india. It is also designed to provide individuals with access to a range of central, state and local government services using only a single platform.
The Government of India is providing all-in-one single unified secure multi-channel freeware mobile app for accessing over 1,200 central and state government services in different Indian languages over Android, iOS, Windows. It supports services such as AADHAR, DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment system, PAN ,EPFO services, PMKVY services, AICTE, CBSE, tax and fee or utilities bill payments, education, job search, tax, business, health, agriculture, travel, birth certificate, e-district, passport etc.
