DATA Communication
Communication means the exchange of information. Information can be transmitted either through a wired medium or through wireless e.g. Air in the form of a Text Message, image, Audio, Video message.
Principle of Data Communication
Data transmission is the process of transmitting and receiving data between the different nodes using the electronic Medium. The Communication is carried by using different components.
The basic components involved in data communication are
Sender
Receiver
Medium
Message
Signaling Technique
Data can be transmitted using either baseband or broadband signaling technique.
Baseband Signaling
Baseband Signaling is a technique which uses a single frequency to transmit data over a cable or wireless path. Baseband signals transmits information in digital form.
Broadband Signaling
It is a technique in which data is transmitted using more than one frequency along a single cable or wireless path. Mostly broadband signaling makes use of analog signals and use frequency division multiplexing (FDM) to create the separate Channels.
Network interface Cards
For data transmission , we need a Sender, Receiver, Medium and Data. These Components When Components when combined from a network. The sender or receiver can be any data terminal that can send and receive the data.
Types of NIC
Different types of NIC’s are Ethernet card and Token ring Card. As the name implies Ethernet Card is used in the nodes which are connected using Ethernet technology and Token ring card is used in the nodes which are connected using Token ring Network.
